NGC 3628

 

Object Information:             NGC 3628
                                                 Mag. - 9.5v
                                                 Galaxy Type - Spiral Type Sb
                                                 Constellation - Leo
                                                 Distance -  35 million light years

Description:   NGC 3628 is the largest but faintest of the striking galaxy trio in the constellation of Leo.  The other two members are Messier 65 (M 65) and Messier 66 (M 66).  Both M 65 and M 66 are located to the south (off the bottom of the above frame) of NGC 3628.

Exposure Information:      March 9, 2002;
                                                Stacked sum of ten 300 second exposures for a total exposure time of 50 min.;

Image Acquisition Software:    CCD Soft Version 5,

Image Processing Software:     AIP for Windows - Dark subtraction,  MIRA 6 - image stacking, registration, and stacking; Photoshop 6 - final processing.
